Crossing Cultures
Crossing Cultures
Presented by WhatsApp, Crossing Cultures is a short-form social media docuseries which thoughtfully examines identity, belonging, and connection among immigrant communities. Each episode focuses on a distinct diaspora from around the globe– like the Japanese community of São Paulo or Turkish community of Berlin– encouraging participants to reflect on how they honor their heritage while building vibrant communities in new & diverse environments. The show is hosted by travel writer & entrepreneur, Jessica Nabongo, and was developed for WhatsApp by the team at monks (FKA Media.Monks).
I worked alongside the monks team during the creative development, casting and production phases of the project, with my primary task being to design the visual identity of the series. Using WhatsApp brand colors & fonts as a starting point, I developed a series logo, as well as a graphic system to present on-screen text such as lower-thirds, names of locations, and pull-quotes.
