The Glamnesiac is my first foray into exploring image-making with ai.

I’ve always wished I could’ve been alive for the explosion of culture that happened during the Disco era. The aesthetics of that time, from the legendary Studio 54 parties, to the work of artists like Warhol, Grace Jones, & James Bidgood, have been a massive influence in my own work. Through careful prompting, I’ve used ai image-generators to create snapshots from an alternate history, full of over-the-top characters and wild parties that never existed. I post the images on Instagram along with a caption in which I’ve created fictitious names of people, parties and clubs (sometimes with the help of ChatGPT), all in the style of a real ‘archive’– presented as historical fact.

In a sense, creating these images allows me to be a part of that glamorous era in a way that hasn’t been possible until now. It’s also a re-writing of Queer history– one without tragedy or persecution.
